What is Kistarium

A home for everything you collect

Kistarium is a web platform where collectors catalog, value, share and trade their collections. Books, stamps, coins, cards, art, records and wine live in one product. A collector photographs an item, and AI agents turn the photo into a catalog entry with a current market value. On top of the catalog sit a portfolio, a community and a marketplace between private collectors.

Data entry

Cataloging takes minutes per item: condition, edition, provenance, value. Across thousands of items that is weeks of work, so most collections are never documented, and an undocumented collection cannot be valued, insured or sold properly.

Valuation

Nobody knows what a piece is worth without hours of research across marketplaces. Insurance and estate planning need that number and rarely get it.

Isolation

Trading happens in forums, on eBay and in chat groups, and an item's history does not pass to the next owner. Showing what you own usually means showing everything.

Who it is for

Private collectors with hundreds or thousands of items. Small museums, libraries, societies, foundations and dealers who need a collection register and an inventory list without buying a collection management system.

Where it fits

Existing collector tools each cover a slice: cataloging apps built for typed entry, price trackers for a single category, and general marketplaces. Kistarium combines AI entry across categories, private and public visibility per collection, a provenance record per item and trading between collectors.

Features

Catalog, portfolio, community

  • Catalog. Collection types for books, stamps, coins, cards, art, music and wine, each with its own item schemas. Every item separates the facts a collector may publish from private data such as storage location, notes and price paid.
  • Provenance. An append-only record per item of who acquired it, when, from whom and for how much.
  • Search. Full-text search and generated filters by author, decade, language, publisher and more.
  • Portfolio. Invested versus current value, price history per item and across the collection.
  • Community. Three visibility levels per collection: private, locked (visible to signed-in members, items on request) and public. Following, and sharing single items with named people.
  • Marketplace. List items for sale or trade, make offers, message, watch, and hand an item over with its history. No fees between collectors.
  • Import and export. Dealer-scale file import and full data export.
  • Languages. English, German, Norwegian and Swedish.
AI agents

Agents do the tedious part

  • Entry. Photograph an item, paste a list, scan a barcode or drop in a dealer receipt. Agents read it and draft complete catalog entries.
  • Research. Agents fill in missing details from reference sources while the collector stays in control of every change.
  • Value. Agents look up what comparable pieces sold or are offered for and keep a dated value history per item.
  • Hunt. Agents watch marketplaces and auctions for items on the wanted list and for pieces that fit the collection.

Has built backend systems for more than 25 years, in Java and Go, from continuous-delivery tooling (an open-source Docker plugin for GoCD) to AI document processing at adacta.ai and warehouse software at pyck.ai. Designed and built Kistarium. Collects books and writes on medieval history. Ghent University. Based in Berlin.
